This iPhone 6S went for a swim in the ocean, and as you can see it’s a mess. Just changing the screen wasn’t going to help get the data from this poor phone.

After dismantling the device, we found that there was salt corrosion covering most of the internals, especially the logicboard.

After giving the logic board a thorough clean, our work was not yet done. Corrosion had gotten under several of the IC’s on the logicboard. This required removing the IC’s under a microscope, cleaning and resoldering to the board.

Eventually, after connecting up a known good screen, battery and charge port, we have the phone data back!
