There was a lightening and thunder storm in our area recently, and now my computer wont turn on. Whats wrong with it?

Power surges are the cause of death for many a computer. We find that customers living in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland areas are especially prone to power surges and lightening strikes.

A power surge can fry the power supply in your computer. This is usually an easy fix and its relatively inexpensive (depending on the brand of your computer). If there is a lightening strike that hits close to home this can also play havoc with your computer and any electrical equipment plugged in to a power outlet in your home.

We highly recommend a good quality surge protected power board for all of your valuable electrical equipment such as computer, modem, television and hi-fi gear. We use and recommend Powershield surge protectors and UPS equipment - good quality AND Australian made!

Another problem people can experience is a dead modem or dead splitter. The power surge can also come through the phone lines and will fry an adsl line splitter, modem-router or even your phone. So if you have recently had big storms or power surges and your internet doesnt work - this could be the reason.
